Journalistic Portraits...in your home

Documentary photography in your home, Chester County PhotographerI photographed the cutest little boy today....his name is Patrick.  Patrick was a perfect angel.  He let me take any photo I wanted, as long as I was quick.  He ignored me just enough, but looked at me and gave me good smiles at the right times.  Heck he even had an early bathtime.  Unfortunately his older brother, Bauer, was a little sulky.  Bauer did not have his walk yet and was probably jealous that the new guy in the household was getting all the attention.  In case you have not guessed, Bauer is the family dog, a chocolate lab.

This image to the left has a great smile, shows his beautiful big eyes, and is just full of "aawww," what a cutie!

Patrick then decided to go over and start pulling books off of "his" bookcase.  Mommy and Patrick are seen here reading a book.  The soft, pleasing window light is striking their faces on one side, while plenty of shadows give the image a nice contrast.  You can almost hear Mommy reading to baby as you look at this image.

Ok, I'll show you one more.  When I was walking by the front window all of a sudden I saw a baby in the window.....I knew I had to photograph Patrick in the window.  I love the look on his face, the little bit of raindrops on the window give you the feeling of the rainy day it really was.  The soft light on his face is georgeous, as are the big catchlights in his eyes that you can't help but notice, and can't take your eyes off of.

This was a fun session.  I've already started making my sample book to have printed to show other clients.  I see in the future doing more of these types of sessions, but with older kids.  Maybe we go to their little league game, or the choir practice.  Maybe their favorite skate park.  Anything that tells a good story about them in a documentary, or photojournalistic, way.  Thanks Tobi, Kevin, and Patrick!
